Detroit Shock Signs Sheila Lambert for Remainder of Year

Auburn Hills, MI -Detroit Shock Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Bill Laimbeer announced today that the team has signed guard Sheila Lambert to a contract for the remainder of the season. The 5-7 Lambert originally signed a seven-day contract with Detroit on July 11.

Lambert started three games over the past week for the Shock, and is averaging 5.0 points, 3.7 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.00 steals in 2005.

Lambert�s first tour of duty with Detroit came during its championship season of 2003 when she played in 27 games as a reserve, averaging 3.2 points, 1.0 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game while connecting on 43.8 percent of her three-pointers.

The former Baylor star was originally drafted by the Charlotte Sting in the first round, seventh overall, in the 2002 WNBA Draft. She sat out most of the 2002 season recovering from a broken leg playing in just three games for the Sting. Charlotte waived Lambert on May 21, 2003, and Detroit signed her two days later.
