Overseas Update - November 29, 2008

Kelly Schumacher made a late debut in Israel, joining Bnot Raanana Hasharon for her first victory and their third of their fifth round action in the Israeli basketball league on Monday. She was 7 for 10 from the field with 16 points and four rebounds in 29 minutes.

Deanna Nolan, Taj McWilliams-Franklin, and Alexis Hornbuckle all took to the floor for their respective teamsÖ

Deanna Nolan contributed 8 points, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds in 22 minutes of action to help UMMC Ekaterinburg beat the Croatian Sibenik, improving their record to 5-0 in a 100-70 victory in Euroleague competition. Nolan is averaging 9.1 ppg, 3 rpg, and 1.7 apg in 23.1 mpg in overseas ball.

Taj McWilliams-Franklin spent 31 minutes on the court in Galatasarayís roll past the French, USO Mondeville. Taj went 11-16 from the field, draining 25 points. She also pulled down 12 rebounds in her double-double performance helping her team improve to 5-0 in Eurocup competition. McWilliams-Franklin is averaging 11.0 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 1.0 apg in 25.2 mpg.

Alexis Hornbuckle had a meager 2-point outing in Besiktasí 56-60 defeat to the French team, Bourges. Hornbuckle saw 28 minutes of action, and also grabbed 8 boards. Besiktasí record stands at 2- 4 in Euroleague action.

In hardwood action in Greece, Sheri Samís club, Panionios, lost to CB Feve San Jose club from Spain, which included former Shock teammate Shay Murphy, 61-70. Sam contributed 14 points, 6 rebounds, and three assists in 34 minutes. Samís club stands at 1-4 in Eurocup competition.

Taj McWilliams-Franklinís Galatasaray squad took on «ankaya University in Turkish basketball competition. Taj had another stellar performance of 19 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists improving her squads record to 4-2 in the Turkish Basketball League.

Over in France, Shock Center, Olayinka Sanniís Cote d'Opale Basket Calais team beat Nantes 66-51, improving their record in the French league to 6-5. In 15 minutes of action on Saturday, Sanni contributed 5 points and two rebounds.

Ashley Shields put up a team best 28 points in her polish team, Duda Lesznoís loss at home to Utex Row 72-78. Shields played 40 minutes, also grabbing 10 boards and 2 assists. Duda Lesznoís record drops to 3-9 in the Polish basketball league.

Alexis Hornbuckleís Turkish squad, Besiktas, suffered a 78-81 defeat to Ceyhan Belediyesi in the Turkish womenís basketball league. Besiktas record stands at 4-2 in the TBBL.

Sheri Sam was back at it in the Greek Womenís basketball league with her team, Panionios in a 61-51 victory over P.Faliro. Sam played 31 minutes and contributed 7 points and 6 rebounds. Panionios stands at 3-3 in Greek action.

Deanna Nolanís squad, UMMC Ekaterinburg picked up their 6th straight win in Russian League Action with a 79-75 win over Spartak. Nolan picked up 21 points, seven rebounds and five steals in 40 minutes of action. UMMC

Kelly Schumacher took to the floor for her second game with Israeli squad Bnot Hash. in an 87-70 victory over M.Ashdod. Schumacher recorded a 15-point, 14-rebound double-double. Bnot Hash. is 5-2 in the Israeli league play.

Taj McWilliams-Franklin took to the floor with her Turkish squad, Galatasaray for their sixth straight victory in Eurocup competition, a 97-45 victory over greek opponent AKO Aris Holargou. McWilliams-Franklin had 13 points, six rebounds and four assists in 20 minutes of action.

Sheri Sam also saw some Eurocup action in an 86-70 victory over Ragusa. Sam led Panionios with 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists in 22 minutes.

Deanna Nolan and Alexis Hornbuckle both took to the court in Euroleague competition on Thanksgiving.

Nolanís UMMC Ekaterinburg stayed perfect in Euroleague competition 69-51 win over Lotos PKO BP. In 36 minutes, Nolan put in 8 points, grabbed three rebounds and dished out five assists.

Alexis Hornbuckle did her best against Mizo Pecs in Euroleague competition, and finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds in the losing effort to for Besiktas. The Turkish squad fall to the bottom of their bracket at 2-5.

In Week 7 in Turkish Womenís Basketball League Galatasaray Womenís Team outscored BahÁeşehir Burhaniye Belediyespor with a 61-53 win. Taj contributed a double-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists. Galatasary stands with a 4-2 record in Turkish play.
