Deanna Nolan Named Detroit Shock MVP by DSBA
This season Nolan averaged 15.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.2 steals in 33.6 minutes per game, helping guide the Shock to their third WNBA title in six seasons.
Nolan scored a career-high 44 points on June 20 versus the Minnesota Lynx. Her 44 points is a franchise high and ranks amongst the top five scoring performances in league history. The 20 fourth quarter points is the second-highest points scored in a quarter in the WNBA and sets a franchise record for points scored in a quarter.
Nolan also surpassed the 800-career assist milestone this season making her the ninth player in WNBA history to score 3,000 points and dish out 800 assists.
The 5-foot-9 guard was also honored this season by a panel of local and national media by being selected to the All-WNBA Second Team. Nolan’s selection marks the fourth time she has received All-WNBA honors, she was selected to the First Team in 2005 and 2007 and to the Second Team in 2003. In addition Nolan was also selected as a member of the WNBA’s All-Defensive Second Team.
In 2008, Nolan was honored as the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week twice (7/20 & 6/22) and had only done so previously once in seven seasons.
