    Shock Head Coach Bill Laimbeer

“We just don’t come out of the locker room ready to go. That’s unfortunate because it gets us in the hole and hurts our confidence and then we have to try to win in the end.

On not having Barb Farris and Cheryl Ford:
"The loss is substantial. Having two of our biggest strongest players not out on the court. We can’t worry about that now, we have what we have. We have to keep playing. This was a game that was winnable and we didn’t show in the first half.”

    On the upcoming Charlotte game:
“We need to win tomorrow. Right now we are in a stretch of four games that we are going to struggle with because we are a very small team right now.”

    Shock Forward Swin Cash

    On falling behind again:
“This is very frustrating. We have to start being accountable for each other and how we prepare ourselves for games and focus. It’s about coming in and getting yourself ready for the game. No one can prepare you, we are professional basketball players. We need to prepare ourselves. I feel like as a whole unit we aren’t doing that right now.”

“There were opportunities for us to win the game. We were right there in the game. But, defensively this is one of the poorest games I have seen. Usually we are a pretty good defensive team and we help each other out. Today there were a lot of one-on-one breakdowns and that is what affected us.”

    Shock Center Ruth Riley

“I think it is frustrating. This is a team that we know that we can come out and beat. You have to give them credit for coming out and playing hard knowing that they needed this win. I think we need to win our home games and we need to take care of it.”

On missing Cheryl Ford and Barb Farris:
“They are great players and a huge part of our team. But, we have a great bench coming in to back them up. I think they did a good job coming in and filling those spots.”

    On not closing the game:
“Its frustrating. We know that we could have come out and gotten a win. We have been on the road lately, which is a minor setback. At the same time we have three tough games coming up.”

    Mystics Head Coach Michael Adams

“There was no secret, we needed to win, and we needed to win bad. Even though they were short-handed with Cheryl Ford not here, we played well. We beat them here the first time, but they beat us at our place. It was tied out there in the last four minutes and we can last. With the last we had against Connecticut the other night, we just had to play better.”

“We hope we can bring our ‘A’ game to everyplace we go from here on out. But yeah, we just came out here to play. I’m just happy that we got four people to go in double-figures.”

On Jackson’s points off the bench:
“She gave us a great lift. She probably wanted to play well against her former team. She gave us a great lift. I understand she had some wide-open looks, contested shots, but she gets a crack and she knocks it down. Its good to see her bounce back because obviously she’s been up and down a few games. We need her energy off the bench and she has been a great lift.”

“They’re the defending champs, what are you going to do? You got to knock them out. They made a run. We were up ten or twelve and they just scored all the points and we didn’t make a bucket. I just tried to tell my team to just go to the basket and just shoot a jump shot and go to the line.”

    Mystics Guard Tamicha Jackson

    On coming off the bench:
“Coming off the bench you always try to come in prepared. Shots went in. When we went to a screen on the ball, they were jumping out because they were just trying to keep me from going in. With them jumping out, they were leaving a big open down low. We just played well as a team.”

“We just had it, I don’t think we even knew it until we got out there. It feels very good to win. We just lost in Connecticut so that was good to come back with a win. Especially on the road. Especially on the road against the Detroit Shock. It feels good.”

    On playing in Detroit:
“It’s been so long. They’re a whole different team since I’ve been here. There is no one on the team except Tweety (Deanna Nolan) and I didn’t even play a year with her because I got traded when she got drafted. But it doesn’t feel the same because I’ve been around now to a few different teams.
