Shock Head Coach Bill Laimbeer

On defense:
"We worked on that for the last four days. We had four solid practices, we talked about it after the Phoenix game how we were going to practice really hard this week and get back to being a hard-nosed basketball team and I think they showed it tonight."

On rebounding:
"That's our strength, there's no question about it. Cheryl [Ford] has been a monster on the boards this year; she's a phenomenal basketball player. We knew we had to get on the glass; our shooting still is not where we want it to be. As long as we go get the offensive rebounds, life's good."

On Cheryl Ford:
"It was a serious injury, she doesn't swell. She's one of those weird players that doesn't swell. We knew this season that she was very focused on her task and being a great player. She's doing everything we ask of her. She's able to translate what we work on with her in practice not the game, which in years past really wasn't the case. Its a great development to watch."

Shock Forward Swin Cash

On Tamika Catchings:
"She's the engine, she makes the whole team go. I knew today focus had to be on defense. My teammates said they had my back and it was just about me making everything tough for her. Just playing physical and every time she went to take a shot we had one, two, three people on her so it definitely was a team effort."

On maintaining the lead in the second half:
" We had to figure out how keep going in transition and get easy baskets. There aren't many teams that can run with us when we want to run and we had some easy transition baskets in the third quarter and that started getting us going."

Shock Forward Cheryl Ford

On the game:
"I think it started with practice this week, because we went so hard the first couple days. Its just one of those games where we know we have to come out and play hard each possession. We've been waiting on a game where we play forty minutes hard and playing each possession hard.

On defense:
"It was a great defensive effort. We really worked on that in shoot around this morning and it worked out for us."

Fever Head Coach Brian Winters

On the game:
“We didn’t play particularly well and I thought Detroit played well. They came off the road after a couple of defeats and I knew that they were going to play better then the last time we played them. They won the battle of the boards, pretty decidedly, and that led to points in the paint, which was skewed heavily in their favor. That’s what they do.”

On their play in the third quarter:
“I don’t know. We just didn’t rebound tonight. Tonight we did not rebound. We’re normally a pretty good rebounding team and tonight they got a lot of boards. They got 15 offensive rebounds to five for us. Points in the paint we had 36 to 14. That tells the tale of the tape.”

On Tamika Catchings game tonight:
“I don’t know. She just had a poor game. For whatever reason, she got into foul trouble early. When a player gets in to foul trouble early that’s never good. It just got her out of whack a little bit and she struggled. It is what it is. Tamika’s played great games for us, tonight was just not one of her best.”

Fever Forward Tamika Whitmore

On their troubles in the third quarter:
“We just didn’t find a basket. We just need to go back and fix our offensive execution and get some kind of defensive intensity. We’ve been struggling on the road a little bit but we just have to find that same energy on the road that we have at home.”

On the Shock’s play:
“Detroit’s a great team on paper. When they get it going like they did tonight, they’re a hard team to beat. You just have to continue to battle them on the boards. They’re a big, physical team. You just have to take it to them.”
