  • Ford's Season Statistics
    Shock Head Coach Bill Laimbeer

    On the win:
“It’s great to get a road win right at the start of the season. We don’t know how were going to come out of the chute. Everybody is gunning for us this year. To be on the road and to get a win like this it’s great for our ladies. It’s going to be a great year.”

    On Cheryl Ford:
“She a very strong player. Cheryl was a monster out there with her offence and defense. 22 rebounds and 21 points, I don’t care what league you’re in that’s a great stat line.”
    Shock Forward Cheryl Ford

On her play and the new season:
“I feel great I was in the right place at the right time. I was blocking out and getting the tip outs, that’s how it’s happens. That’s why I’m here, that’s my job. I go out there and grab rebounds. That’s what I work on in practice. I’m just really excited to be back out there playing. I’m getting to know my teammates again. I really missed them a lot. It’s just fun to get back out there and play.”
    Shock Guard Deanna Nolan

    On the win:
“I feel good I had a good game. It’s all just a matter of playing sharp, getting the rebounds, finding the open man and that’s what we did tonight. Cheryl (Ford) was playing hurt and it’s good she had a great game on both ends of the court.”
Silver Stars Head Coach Dee Brown

    On Cheryl Ford:
“That’s all effort plays. Cheryl Ford came in and wanted the ball more than we did. The best part is that we gave ourselves a chance to win. We got it cut to four and they just made effort plays tonight. Rebounds are strictly heart and hustle and trying to get the ball and you want it more than we do and that’s what she did. Her job is to go get rebounds. They have so many scorers on that ball club. Her dad is Karl Malone and he rebounds and that’s what she does.”

    On Biba Bibrzycka:
“That’s what she does, she’s a shooter and she got us back in the game because she can shoot the ball and we expect her to do that. Her getting used to the quickness of the game, trying to guard Swin Cash and Deanna Nolan, they’re quicker and stronger. It’s just her getting used to playing against this level of competition every night. She’s playing a tough position. She had Sheryl Swoopes two nights ago, tonight she gets Swin Cash, two days later she’s got Katie Smith. It doesn’t stop for her. The more time I give her on the court, the better she’ll get.”

    On the current home stand:
“We’ve just got to take care of home. You win one on the road and lose one at home, so kind of have to balance those things out. You want to have some kind of home court dominance. We’ve got great crowds, the fans are great. They cheered us on all the way to the end, so you’ve got to give them a reason to stay. The way you do that is to win games at home.”
    Silver Stars Forward Adrienne Goodson

“They were definitely a physical team. They were definitely a lot quicker to the ball. If they were diving on the floor, we weren’t. They were just hustling. They were killing us on the boards offensively. Cheryl Ford had a monster game, 21 points and 22 rebounds. A lot of her shots were in the paint. She was an animal on the boards.”

“They are some big girls. They’re tough. It was a gut check for us. We’ve got to get a lot tougher mentally. The same way they came at us, we’ve got to come at them and even harder.”

“We’ve got to take care of the games at home. We need to win the games at home. It’s important. That’s why they’re at home. They’re called home games. We’ve got three tough games coming up.”
