    *Fourth double-double this season.
  • Shock Head Coach Bill Laimbeer

    On the game:
“They had too many second chance shots for our liking and it cost us the game. New York needed a win and they started the game with intensity. They made good shots, but we weathered the storm and still had a chance to win. New York’s offensive rebounding was the story of the game.”

    Shock Forward Cheryl Ford

    On the game:
“New York had too many offensive rebounds and we committed too many turnovers. We had this game won but we let it slip away. Turnovers have been a problem for us since day one. Coach told us at halftime that if we did not give them second chance shots and limit our turnovers we would win the game. New York’s a good team and they deserved to win”

    Liberty Head Coach Pat Coyle

    On today’s game:
“You know, in the seven games we’ve played it has been like this. There aren’t going to be any blow outs. Every game goes down to the wire and we’re beginning to understand that. We have to execute for forty minutes and play well for forty minutes.”

    On today’s win:
“I don’t know if it’s a signature win, but [Detroit] is sitting on top of the east, and any time you can get a win in that situation, it’s basically two wins. It was a good win for us today.”

On the play of Vickie Johnson:
“Vicki Johnson’s been around and she understands how big the game is and more so than anyone she has taken to heart that you have to go out and play as hard as you can play. She has been terrific - and that’s not a surprise, she is a veteran and that’s what you expect from your veterans.”

On the play of Becky Hammon:
“She really went out and shot the ball, and that’s the way Becky can shoot it. The last two games she has done a good job of leading the team and getting the ball where it needs to be. She has been terrific, she is really starting to play well for us.”

    Liberty Guard Elena Baranova

    On the game:
“This is a big win for us because it comes against an Eastern Conference team. This win gives us a lot of confidence. We did a good job rebounding the ball tonight. We’ve been working hard on the glass in practice for the past two weeks. Shameka Christon’s playing hard inside against the big people and boxing people out. We’re playing together as a team and that’s why we’re doing well right now. "

    Liberty Guard Vickie Johnson

    On the game:
“We wanted this game. I think there’s been a huge difference in our rebounding for the better over the past four or five games. We played hard and boxed everyone out and tonight we had positive results.”
