On the play of Mwadi Mabika:
“This was one of her better games. She made tough shots, but she also made the shots that were needed to keep them in the game. Mabika was definitely the key tonight.”

“They played harder throughout the game. We couldn’t match the energy they played with.”

Shock Center Ruth Riley

“It’s just frustrating; we could have come in and won even though they are a good team, but obviously we didn’t play hard enough. We will learn from it and move on.”

“The season is short so we have to learn our lessons quick."

Shock Forward Cheryl Ford

“We loss and it is very frustrating. We have been going up and down games during our games and we aren’t making shots and we aren’t getting to the lose balls. We just have to gel together and try to get through it..”

Focus for the Next game:
“Just making shots and playing defense.”

Sparks Head Coach Joe Bryant

“I really think we have been playing good defense all year except that Minnesota game. I think we have really been doing a great job, despite the overtime loss to New York, overall we have done a good job with defense. There is a certain moment when you need a big stop, and in the third quarter we got some of those stops.”

On getting Chamique Holdsclaw back in the lineup:
“She is special, lets not get it twisted now, she is a special player. Teams have to play her, and Lisa was able to get one on one play because someone had to guard Chamique. Also Chamique will do things that make coaches look good. We are very happy to have her back. Taking Chamique away is like taking Kobe away from the Lakers. Mwadi gets more shots, Thomas gets more shots.”

Sparks Center Lisa Leslie

“Overall it was a good game for our home opener and the fans were really into it, and I thought Mwadi came out and played great. She was knocking down all her shots, knocking down big pointers and just playing the way she’s been playing. Overall we did a good job of executing our offense and defensively we really did a good job of limiting there shots and shutting them down.”

Sparks Forward Mwadi Mabika

“I was excited to play here because we have been on the road for so long it was good game. It was about time for us to come home and play in front of our fans.”

“For me I think it is that I play well here because I am so used to it. I am happy to come out and play focused and play good offense.”
