Shock Head Coach Bill Laimbeer

What was the difference in the second half?
“Their intensity was up. We got frustrated. We stopped playing.”

Were you disappointed on the boards?
“They had more energy the second half and we didn’t match their intensity.”

On Tamika Whitmore and Tully Bevilaqua:
“They were more focused and their shots went in.”

On Ruth Riley:
“She had some key shots and rebounds, but it’s still a team game.”

Shock Forward Deanna Nolan

On the second half:
“Indiana came out more energetic. The first five minutes of the second half for the team that’s behind is always important. They came out and were aggressive and set the momentum. They took away Cheryl (Ford) from us. We just needed some other people to step up.”

Shock Center Ruth Riley

On the second half:
“Indiana is a good team and they were playing at home. We just didn’t come out and match their intensity in the second half.” On Indiana’s rebounding advantage:
“Cheryl (Ford) averages 12 boards. She has been known to get 20. But we’ve got to go in and help her out on the rebounding. It’s just effort going after the ball.”

Fever Head Coach Brian Winters

“We struggled to score in the first half. Our defense and our rebounding kept us in the game. Our up tempo play helped us in the second half. We’re a good defensive and rebounding team. And we play off of that. Tamika (Catchings) had a terrific block on Nolan (Deanna). She kept the ball in play to start the fast break. Tully (Bevilaqua) had a good three. I like our position right now. We will practice tomorrow and then get ready for Connecticut.”

Sting Forward Tamika Whitmore

On the first half offensive struggle:
“We didn’t do a good job with the spacing on the court. We needed to pick up our defense. When we clamped down on defense, it generated offense. This was a big win, especially for our confidence coming off winning at Washington. Saturday against Connecticut will be a battle.”

On Helen Darling back in the line-up:
“It's very nice. It's great to see her back. She's been out for a while, we went down at the same time as I did. She just brings that leadership. She's one of the captains of our team and it's great to have her running the show again.”

Sting Forward Tamika Catchings

On struggling offensively in the first half:
“We came out at half time and had talked about what we needed to work on. Anna (DeForge) started us with a big three pointer. And that was the jump start we needed for the second half.”

On our defensive intensity in the second half:
“The defensive intensity, we use it to elevate our offense. We talked about that at Washington, that everybody coming off the bench has to be ready to contribute and add a new dimension whenever they come in.”
