On the importance of a road win:
"Road games in the WNBA right now are very hard to come by. Anytime you can get a road win you'll take it."

On Cheryl Ford:
"Cheryl Ford is becoming one of the best players, if not the best player, in the league right now. She's leading the league in rebounding, and her scoring efficiency is high. She's a fun player to watch out there."

On adjustments made after the Sting made a comeback:
"We kept turning the ball over to let them back into the game. Without our turnovers we would have a much easier time of it. It's something we need to take care of. We need to keep focus for 40 minutes, and we'll be okay."

On Charlotte's post players:
"They did a nice job of pounding the ball inside. We let them get too deep in the post, and they took advantage of that."

Shock Forward Cheryl Ford

On the game:
"We just kept them off the glass in the second half and limited our turnovers because in the first half we had fourteen turnovers and they had six offensive rebounds."

On the importance of coming in here and getting a win:
"It's very important because we know in this league it is hard to win on the road. We just finished talking about how we always lose when we come here so it was a very important win for us."

On how the noise from the kids may have affected you today:
"Oh no II have four four nieces and nephews so I am used to all that screaming and stuff that didn't affect me at all."

Shock Guard Deanna Nolan

On the game:
"We took the it inside to the big girl (Cheryl Ford). She got a lot of open shots and a lot of easy baskets based on our offensive rebounding. She put them back towards the end of the game when we needed buckets to pull away. We also really just pushed the ball, I thought we did a good job of pushing and rotating to the weak side for the open shot."

On the importance of coming in here and getting a win:
"It's pretty important. Besides this win we had only one road win. We let the others slip away but it was good to start off five more games in eight days with a road win like this."

On how the noise from the kids may have affected you today:
"Kids are just going to cheer for whoever, they probably don't know who's the home team or who's the away team they just want to be here. Some of the people fed off the kids and the kids got them pumped up but it was fun to see them here today."

Sting Head Coach Muggsy Bogues

On the game:
“We put forth the effort tonight, and that game could have gone either way. I am proud of the effort we played with today. We really came out and played extremely hard all the way through. If we continue playing like that and putting forth effort, I know we will win our share of games. The girls went out and played hard, we just have to keep fighting.”

On good scoring performance:
“I think we are coming around, they are getting a feel for each other and building good team chemistry. We have to continue to put the ball in the hole. We are getting great looks that we still aren't putting in. We have to continue to shoot and continue to have confidence so that we can start making those shots.”

On playing against a great rebounding team:
“It's tough because you are always conscious of the rebound. The first thing you are supposed to do is box out, so that becomes a big emphasis for us. When you miss that assignment, things start to break down, and the opposing team comes up with the rebound. Rebounding is instinct. You have to have a good nose for the rebound. They have quite a few players who have that. Cheryl Ford definitely has it. They have players such as (Kara) Braxton, (Plenette) Pierson, and Swin Cash who consistently makes the rebounds that you need so desperately.”

On team game plan:
“Well, we wanted to make it difficult for them to receive the ball in the post. They get good post position because they are strong and understand the game. We wanted to make it difficult for them to get touches. We wanted to make them shoot the basketball, something that we didn't think they were capable of doing. But today, they shot the ball well, especially behind the three-point line.”

On preparing for the upcoming road trip:
“We have to keep up the effort that we put forth today. We have to believe that when we play like that things will work in our favor. If we can get good play out of our key players on a consistent basis, we will be fine. We just have to keep believing and pushing one another, because we are all in it together. This is a character builder for us, and we are going to keep fighting until we get this thing resolved.”

Sting Guard Kelly Mazzante

On her terrific bench performance:
“Every game they look for me to come off the bench with energy, get some open shots and continue to create my offense off my defense. I really made sure I played defense and I know that I will get my shots offensively, and even if I don't, I know I can do other things like grab steals and continue to bring energy.”

On her defense compared to last year:
“I don't really think about last year. I had a great offseason overseas and I just tried to bring that energy and improvement to my game here.”

Sting Forward Tammy Sutton-Brown

On a new team focus:
“We have really been refocusing since our long team meeting and just knowing where we stand and what we stand for. Win or lose we always want to go down fighting.”

On establishing a strong inside presence:
“We have to continue to work hard and continue to know as a team in order for us to get wins we must be able to go both inside and out. I think that is what both Tangela (Smith) and I have really been focusing on in regards to holding down the middle and letting our shooters come off us in order to open up more for them.”

On improving the offense:
“Continuing to work and battling on the boards is what it's about. We have to have a strong inside game as well as an outside game in order to win. Once that is established everything is then opened up for the guards on the outside.”

Sting Center Janel McCarville

On battling a tough Detroit team:
“We really just wanted to come out and do what we do best. Each team in the league knows what they come with and tries to play off their strengths best the can. Detroit is very tough, with five all-stars on their team they are going to be great at rebounding, and we just wanted to identify ourselves out there and show a lot of heart. No matter if we are up or down we are going to continue to go out there with heart and determination, and if we do those things I believe we will come out with a win.”

On her team role:
“I just try to do what I do best. Whether it is coming off the bench or starting in any situation I do what the team needs me to do, be it score, rebound, or defend. Whether I play ten minutes or twenty minutes I am going to give as much intensity as I can and enjoy the time I have on the court with my teammates.”
