  • Shock Head Coach Bill Laimbeer

    On effort:
The efforts been coming, we play hard. Weve lost some close games in the last three and the effort has been coming, Today I thought, offensively, we played pretty well. I thought Swin came out with a lot more intensity and a lot more energy to get us started on a good note.

    On guard Deanna Nolan:
Deanna plays defense all the time, thats what she was doing in the first half, played great defense but our offense was being carried by Ruth and Swin, so that was a big positive, Deanna didnt need to score, but when we had to have her down the stretch, she was there doing her thing and made all her free throws.

    On the upcoming road trip:
Today was a very big game for us first. Hopefully this is a launching pad for the Seattle game and well worry about Sacramento after Seattle.

    Shock Guard Deanna Nolan

    On the game:
It doesnt matter how many points I score, as long as we get the [win]. Im just trying to go out and look for my shot a little more and get to the free throw line and trying to create some open shots.

On the difference between this game and the previous few:
I think we were attacking them, going right to the rim at them, they were fouling us, we were getting steals and we werent turning it over as much as weve been turning it over and I think that was the key for us.

    Shock Guard Chandi Jones

    On practice translating to games:
I think it was different, the way I practiced all week, really just tried to focus on myself, just do whatever my teammates ask of me, and my coaches. We all as a team just trying to be focused and get back to where we were at the beginning of the season when we were undefeated and we all just try to push each other in practice. I think everything we did in practice played out in the game today.

    Sun Coach Mike Thibault

    On the game:
I was proud of my team because we were on the road with the third games in four days, back to back afternoon games and we played our butts off. I thought we had a chance to win in the last couple of minutes and I was surprised by the outcome.

    Sun Guard Katie Douglas

On getting back in the game:
We just have to move on. I think we just moved the ball and played without the ball, clamped down on defense and got a lot of key rebounds. It was a variety of things but overall just playing the way Connecticut Sun basketball is suppose to be played.
