Select WNBA Teams Announce Game Ticket Promotional Plans For League’s 10th Anniversary Season

WNBA and Ticketmaster Team Up to Offer Fans Tickets for their Favorite Team

NEW YORK, NY (April 2, 2006) – All 14 WNBA clubs will put single-game tickets for the League’s historic 10th Anniversary season on sale on Wednesday, April 5 at 10:00am ET., it was announced today by the Women’s National Basketball Association.

The WNBA and 12 of its teams are partnering with Ticketmaster in this league-wide initiative that will provide fans their first opportunity to purchase individual game tickets for the League’s exciting 2006 anniversary season that tips-off on Saturday, May 20. Tickets can be purchased via, at Ticketmaster Retail Locations, or by calling Ticketmaster at 1-877-WNBA-TIX. Tickets also will be available for purchase through and at the NBA Store in New York.

The 2006 WNBA Draft also takes place April 5, concluding a week-long celebration of women’s basketball emanating from Boston, which includes the Women’s NCAA Division I Final Four, the WNBA’s Pre-Draft Camp and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association convention.

As part of the promotion with Ticketmaster, all Ticketmaster assets will have special WNBA on-sale messaging on their website, telephone hot lines and hold messages and in key retail locations. NBA and WNBA hot lines will greet callers with the same messaging.

The WNBA’s 10th anniversary season tips off on Saturday, May 20 and will include ABC’s national telecast from Sacramento where the defending WNBA Champion Monarchs will commemorate their 2005 WNBA title by raising their championship banner. The Monarchs will then square off against All-Star guard Diana Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury at ARCO Arena beginning at 4 p.m. EDT. Opening day also includes the inaugural game of the league’s 14th franchise, the Chicago Sky, as it visits the Charlotte Sting.
