Mystics Overseas Update 01/21/11


Marissa Coleman returned to Europe when she signed with MKB Sopron. In her first contest, Coleman faced Ekaterinburg, a team coached by Mystics assistant coach Marianne Stanley. Along with Tulsa Shocks’ Amber Holt, Coleman and her teammates faced a loaded Eketeringburg team including the Los Angeles Sparks' Candace Parker and the New York Liberty’s Cappie Pondexter. Coleman’s Sopron lost 87-68 and she scored five points and grabbed three rebounds in 22 minutes. In her next game, Coleman and Sopron lost a heartbreaker to Gospic Croatia 81-78. In spite of the loss, she recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds and added five steals.


Ashley Houts is enjoying her international experience as a member of Elitzu Netanya in the Israeli Basketball League. She is playing alongside Rashanda McCants of the Tulsa Shock and former Houston Comets Ashley Fields. In an 82-78 victory against Elitzur Holon, Houts scored 19 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out two assists. Against Ramla, Houts and her teammates were defeated 86-62, she scored 10 points and four assists. Houts is currently averaging 14.3 points per game and 4.2 assists.


Jacinta Monroe is currently in China playing for Beijing in the WCBA league. In a game against Jiangsu, she scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Monroe’s team won the game 66-56..
