Mystics Sign Olympian Iziane Castro Marques

WASHINGTON, D.C. � Washington Mystics General Manager and Head Coach Trudi Lacey announced today that free agent forward Iziane Castro Marques (Iz-ee-ANN) has signed with the team.

A nine-year WNBA veteran, Castro Marques first joined the league as a free agent with the Miami Sol. She has played for the Phoenix Mercury, Seattle Storm and most recently with the Atlanta Dream, where she helped the team reach consecutive WNBA Finals. Castro Marques represented Brazil in the 2004 Olympics and sat out the first half of the 2012 WNBA season due to her commitment to her country�s national team. Her career averages include 10.0 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.

Lacey also announced the release of guard Natasha Lacy, who had joined the team prior to the start of the 2012 campaign. Lacy averaged 3.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 20 games this season.
