Mystics & Carefirst BlueCross BlueShield Continuing Partnership

WASHINGTON, D.C. – For the sixth consecutive year, the Washington Mystics and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst) will continue their partnership of the “Community 3’s” initiative. CareFirst will once again serve as the sponsor of the Community 3’s initiative and will donate $100 to the March of Dimes Mama and Baby Bus for every three-pointer made by the Mystics this season. This mobile medical unit provides education, prenatal care and improved access to healthcare for women in Washington, D.C., and Prince George’s County.

CareFirst and the Mystics will host the fifth annual diaper drive on July 25 when Washington hosts the Tulsa Shock. The collected diapers will benefit the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority’s Stork’s Nests, a March of Dimes program that provides prenatal education and incentives for low-income, pregnant women. The Mama and Baby Bus will also be at the diaper drive.

Last season, Washington made 157 three-pointers and CareFirst donated $15,700 to the March of Dimes as a part of the Community 3’s initiative and collected over 17,749 diapers for the Stork’s Nests during the diaper drive, bringing the total for the last five years to $77,100 and over 80,000 diapers.
