Mystics Return to Comcast SportsNet

The Washington Mystics and Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, the region’s premier source for television and online sports coverage, announced today the team’s 10-game regional television schedule for the 2011 WNBA regular season, which begins on Thursday, June 16, at 7 p.m. when the Mystics host the Connecticut Sun at Verizon Center.

In addition, the network will air ‘Mystics Magazine,’ a new eight-episode documentary-style program that will follow the team as they compete against the best players in the WNBA while maintaining their commitment to the Washington metropolitan community. ‘Mystics Magazine’ – which will also be available on the team’s official website, – is the first documentary that will chronicle a WNBA team during a season. The first episode debuts on Comcast SportsNet on Saturday, May 28, at 9:30 a.m.

“Comcast SportsNet is proud to deliver an expanded schedule of exciting live-game coverage and compelling original programming surrounding the Mystics this season,” said Comcast SportsNet Senior Vice President and General Manager Rebecca Schulte. “Our partnership with the Mystics underscores our commitment to providing area fans with the highest quality and most comprehensive coverage of the teams they are passionate about.”

Highlighting the Mystics broadcast schedule are matchups with the 2010 WNBA Champion Seattle Storm (July 3) and Eastern Conference Champion Atlanta Dream (Aug. 9). In addition, playoff teams Indiana Fever and Phoenix Mercury are highlighted on the schedule. Washington will be featured on national television on Thursday, June 9, at 7:00 p.m. when the Mystics travel to Atlanta to face the Dream on ESPN2.

“We are very excited to be back on Comcast SportsNet for another season,” Mystics Chief Operating Officer Greg Bibb stated. “Comcast SportsNet is the region’s leader in terms of live sports and we are pleased to be a part of the network’s impressive line-up. We are also eager to share an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at Washington’s WNBA entry through ‘Mystics Magazine.’ I think viewers are going to enjoy following our team as they make the journey through the 2011 season.”
