March 17, 2008

Washington, D.C. – General Manager Linda Hargrove announced today that the Washington Mystics have added 5-foot-8 point guard Amber Jacobs to its roster. The team had made an offer to Jacobs which was not matched by the Minnesota Lynx.

“Amber brings experience to training camp. We really like her leadership and her ability to shoot the three,” said Hargrove.

Jacobs was selected in the third round (33rd overall) of the 2004 WNBA draft by the Minnesota Lynx. In 2007, she averaged 3.2 points per game and 1.4 assists per game. In 2006, Jacobs had her best season where she recorded career-highs in every category. She averaged 8.2 points per game, 3.4 assists per game, and 2.6 rebounds per game. In four seasons with the Lynx, Jacobs’ career averages are as follow: 4.6 points per game, 2.1 assists per game and 1.3 rebounds per game.

“I am absolutely thrilled that Coach Tree Rollins and Linda Hargrove have given me a chance to be on their team,” said Jacobs. “I look forward to coming in and earning a spot on the Mystics team.”

A graduate of Boston College, Jacobs led the Eagles to their first Big East Championship in 2004. During her senior year, she received numerous honors, including All-Big EAST second team and Associated Press honorable mention All-American.
