Washington, D.C. –General Manager Linda Hargrove announced today that center Gillian Goring has been waived. Goring was selected in the third round of the 2007 WNBA Draft.

“It was very difficult to waive GG this year but it was really our only option. She is physically not going to be ready to play this season, it looks like it will be a full year rehab from the surgery that she had in early November” said Hargrove. “Our intentions are that she will go back to Oklahoma and rehab there and as soon as we can re-sign her we will.”

Goring had knee surgery while playing in Turkey. During her rookie season, Goring appeared in 21 games and averaged 2.6 points and 2.0 rebounds per game. A standout at North Carolina State University, Goring averaged 7.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in two seasons with the Wolfpacks.

The Washington Mystics will tip off the 2008 season on Saturday, May 17th, on the road against the Indiana Fever.
