Washington to Play Pre-Season Game in Tampa, Florida

Washington, D.C. – The Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) released the league’s 2008 pre-season schedule today. The Washington Mystics will play three games prior to the start of the regular season which kicks off on May 25th against the Houston Comets. The Mystics will play the 2006 WNBA Champion, Sacramento Monarchs, in Tampa, Florida on Monday, May 5th at 7:00 p.m. The game will take place on the campus of the University of Tampa at the Bob Martinez Sports Center. Washington will travel to New York to face the Liberty for a matinee at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, May 8th at 11:00 a.m. The Mystics will close the preseason schedule at Verizon Center on Tuesday, May 13th at 7:00 p.m. when the team hosts four-time WNBA Champion Houston Comets. Tickets for the Mystics home preseason contest will go on sale in April.

Last season, the Mystics played two pre-season games in non-WNBA cities, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Columbus, Ohio.

The Washington Mystics will tip off the 2008 season on Saturday, May 17th, on the road against the Indiana Fever. Washington will host the club’s home opener on Sunday, May 25th, against the four-time WNBA Champion, Houston Comets at 4:00 p.m. Season tickets for the 2008 season are currently on sale and can be purchased by calling the Mystics Sales Office at 1-877-DC-HOOP1.
