Veteran Marketer Brings Sponsorship Experience to Team

WASHINGTON, D.C. –Washington Mystics Chief Operating Officer Greg Bibb announced today the addition of Marty Pasco Lerner to the franchise’s front office. She joins the Mystics as the team’s Director of Corporate Partnerships. Lerner will be responsible for developing corporate partnerships and for driving sponsorship revenue for the team.

“Marty brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our organization,” stated Bibb. “We are thrilled to add such a veteran and savvy sports marketer to our team. I am excited for her to join us and help us grow the Mystics brand.”

Lerner brings over 10 years of experience in corporate marketing and sponsorship to the Mystics. Most recently, she has served as a sports marketing consultant for Staples the Office Superstore, LLC. As consultant, she directed the day-to-day action and coordination of sports marketing sponsorships related to the National Football League (NFL), and the Los Angeles Kings, Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers.

Prior to her work as a consultant, Lerner was a senior account executive with Clear Channel Entertainment, Inc. In that capacity, she led the strategic planning for Staples Sports Marketing Division. She also managed inaugural events for H.J. Heinz’s naming rights partnership of Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Lerner was also an integral team member on agency accounts such as Hershey U.S.A. and Claritin.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to work for such a dynamic organization. The talent, both on and off the court, is impressive,” said Lerner. “Having grown up in Richmond and having spent the majority of my professional career in Washington, D.C., I’m looking forward to ‘coming home.’”

Lerner attended the University of Mary Washington and majored in International Affairs. Her family includes her husband, Alan, and her four-year old daughter, Alexa.

The Washington Mystics will tip off the 2008 season on Saturday, May 17th, on the road against the Indiana Fever. Washington will host the club’s home opener on Sunday, May 25th, against the four-time WNBA Champion, Houston Comets at 4:00 p.m. Season tickets for the 2008 season are currently on sale and can be purchased by calling the Mystics Sales Office at 1-877-DC-HOOP1.
