Washington, D.C. –In honor of WNBA Cares week, the Washington Mystics will host its school assembly program this Friday, May 15th at Samuel Ogle Middle School in Bowie, MD. Mystics Centers Nakia Sanford and Lindsay Taylor will be attending. Over 200 metropolitan area youths have taken part in the assemblies. The school assembly program is sponsored by Sibley Memorial Hospital, the official health care provider of the Washington Mystics.
The Be Fit, Be Smart Program is an interactive assembly that will bring Mystics players to schools throughout the metropolitan area. The program is designed to raise young people’s awareness of their overall well-being. Presenting elements include discussions on staying in school, proper nutrition, avoiding drugs, alcohol and tobacco and staying physically fit
The Washington Mystics will tip off the 2008 season on Saturday, May 17th, on the road against the Indiana Fever. Washington will host the club’s home opener on Sunday, May 25th, against the four-time WNBA Champion Houston Comets at 4:00 p.m. Individual tickets are currently on sale on www.ticketmaster.com.
