Mercury All-Star Cappie Pondexter, who this offseason is averaging just under 20 points per game for her team in Turkey, recently took time out of her schedule to answer a few questions via e-mail from Mercury Basketball Communications Manager Vince Kozar. She talked about her expectations for the upcoming season, the WNBA draft and most importantly, the status of her knees.

VK: Tell our fans where you are playing right now.
CP: "I'm currently in Istanbul, Turkey. I play for the best team in Turkey, which is the Fenerbahce Sports Club. We're competing in two leagues; one is the EuroLeague and the other is the Turkish League."

VK: Are you playing with/against anyone our fans would recognize?
CP: "There are so many WNBA players in Turkey at this moment. On my team, we have Tammy Sutton-Brown and Linda Frohlich. Our rival team, Besiktas, has Kara Braxton and Stacy Lovelace. I also play against Tan Smith, Loree Moore and Nikki Teasley! And of course I'm hoping to meet up with Diana in the Final Four!"

VK: How are those knees?
CP: "My knees are doing so much better with the help of our Mercury doctors and the doctors here in Turkey. I've been able to rehab and stay on top of this injury!"

VK: What are your expectations for the upcoming season? Is there a free agent you'd like to see the Mercury bring in?
CP: "I expect us to have an exceptional year, not just because of the talent we have but because I know every player is working really hard to improve and we have experience in (coach Paul) Westhead's system. I don't want to make any predictions, but I will say we will work really hard for this organization. One key free agent who I've gotten to know and enjoy playing with is Tammy Sutton-Brown. I think she would be perfect for our system and what we're trying to accomplish in 2007."

VK: If it was up to you, and the 2007 WNBA Draft was today, who would you take with the No. 1 pick?
CP: "Knowing that we have the No. 1 pick, with the talent that's available for the draft, I would definitely pick a post player!"
