Four-year WNBA veteran signs two-year contract with Phoenix

Phoenix Mercury Sign Le’Coe Willingham

PHOENIX – The 2007 WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury has acquired forward Le’Coe Willingham from the Connecticut Sun, the club announced today.

“I have watched Le’Coe play in Connecticut the past four years,” said Mercury Head Coach Corey Gaines. “Their style is similar to ours and Le’Coe is a player who should thrive in our system. She is a veteran and in this league, like any other league, you need veteran players on the roster. Nothing can replace experience.”

The 6-0 Auburn graduate averaged 5.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in 2007. She is currently playing for Olesa, Spain and is averaging 19 points and 11 rebounds. Willingham was signed to a free agent contract by Connecticut in 2004. In her four seasons with Connecticut she played in 98 games.
