Taylor Named Player of the Week
Mercury forward Penny Taylor was named the WNBA’s Western Conference Player of the Week for regular season games played Monday, June 20 through Sunday, June 26.
For the week, Taylor led the Mercury to a 3-0 record -- all road games -- and finished third in the Western Conference in scoring (22.0 ppg) and assists (6.7 apg), and second in field goal percentage (.615).
After scoring a season-high 30 points, on 11-of-15 shooting, in a 105-98 victory over San Antonio on June 21, Taylor followed up that performance by recording her second double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds as well as eight assists in a 92-83 victory over Atlanta on June 24. She then posted 19 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in an 86-78 victory over Chicago on June 25.
