Overseas Update: Oct. 29, 2012

Every Monday throughout the WNBA off-season, PhoenixMercury.com will provide the X-Factor with weekly updates on how Mercury players are performing overseas.

The following updates include games played through October 29, 2012.

Krystal Thomas Jiangsu Phoenix (China): Thomas has arrived in China to train with her team, but hasn’t played in any games yet. Be sure to follow Thomas as she checks in with the X-Factor via her overseas blog.

Charde Houston Maccabi Ashdod (Israel): Houston arrived in Israel and began practicing with her team over the past two weeks. With her season starting in just one week, follow Houston on Twitter for unique insight into her daily life overseas.

Sammy Prahalis Maccabi Ramat Hen (Israel): Prahalis has been in Israel for nearly two weeks, but her season will not officially begin for another few days. She did, however, scrimmage against Maccabi Ashdod which features her Mercury teammate, Charde Houston. Briana Gilbreath Lider Pruszkow (Poland): Gilbreath’s team did not play in any games next week. Their next game is on November 3 against Gorzow.

DeWanna Bonner Nadezhda Orenburg (Russia): Bonner continued her brilliant start to the overseas season in a 70-65 victory over Good Angels (featuring former teammate Allie Quigley, the Liberty’s Plenette Pierson and the Shock’s Riquna Williams) on October 24. Bonner had 22 points, eight rebounds and four assists on 5-10 shooting and 9-11 FT’s. She currently maintains a EuroLeague Efficiency Index rating of 24 , second only to the Mercury’s Candice Dupree (28).

Candice Dupree Spartak (Russia): In an 88-81 victory over Tarsus (featuring the Sparks’ Delisha Milton-Jones and the Silver Stars’ Danielle Robinson), Dupree earned Week 1 MVP honors for the EuroLeague Women. Dupree filled up the stat sheet scoring 26 points on 10-18 shooting, grabbing eight rebounds, dishing three assists, three steals and blocking one shot all in just 33 minutes of action.

Diana Taurasi UMMC Ekaterinburg (Russia): After tallying 16 points and four assists in her first game for UMMC Ekaterinburg on the 22nd (a 74-49 win over Energy Ivanovo), Taurasi next faces Novi Zagreb (featuring the Liberty’s Leilani Mitchell and the Sky’s Courtney Vandersloot) on October 31 followed by former Mercury teammate Sidney Spencer’s Dynamo CUVD on November 3.

Dymond Simon Piestanske Cajky (Slovakia): Simon’s team, Piestanske Cajky, played against the SKBD Rucon on October 21 and won 69-54. They also picked up a victory over Cassovia K. on the 27th, 73-39. Stats/box scores are unavailable at this time.

Lynetta Kizer KB Stars (South Korea): Kizer left the United States to join the KB Stars this week. She expects to play in either their game against Woori Hansae (Nakia Sanford’s club) on November 1 or One FX on November 4.

Nakia Sanford Woori Hansae (South Korea): Sanford did not play in any games over the past week.

Alexis Hornbuckle – Undecided
