Following their second title run in three years, the WNBA Champion Mercury dispersed for their annual offseason trips to play ball overseas. From China to Russia, Mercury players are hooping it up around the globe. Keep track of their whereabouts and progress until they return to the Valley to defend their crown.

MERCURY GUARD DIANA TAURASI: DIANA TAURASI and the rest of her Spartak Moscow Region team just defeated Penny Taylor’s Fenerbahce in the Euroleague quarterfinals. Taurasi’s posted a game-high 28 points in Game 1 (including 5-of-7 from three-point range) before Spartak clinched the best-of-three series 2-0.

MERCURY FORWARD DEWANNA BONNER: DEWANNA BONNER’s Frisco Sika Brno dropped Game 1 of Euroleague quarterfinal action to their opponent, Wisla Can-Pack, 78-74. DB finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. She’s scored in double-figures in 10 consecutive games and 12 of her 14 overall.

Smith posted 10 points and five rebounds on 5-of-7 shooting in the victory. Brooke ranks third in the Italian League in scoring, posting 16.9 points per game.

MERCURY GUARD KETIA SWANIER: KETIA SWANIER is devoting the beginning of 2010 to her foundation Ketia 4 Kidz. She recently hosted her second annual Fish Fry Fundraiser and Homecoming Gala in Mississippi where she surprised her guests with a special visit from teammate Temeka Johnson, Chicago Bears’ LB Nick Roach and former New Orleans Saints’ All-Pro Michael Lewis. MERCURY FORWARD PENNY TAYLOR: PENNY TAYLOR and her Fenerbahce team from Turkey recently suffered a 79-90 defeat to teammate Diana Taurasi and Spartak Moscow Region in Game 1 of their quarterfinals series. Taylor currently leads her team in scoring and field goal percentage, posting 15.6 points on 51.9 percent shooting per contest.

MERCURY GUARD TEMEKA JOHNSON: TEMEKA JOHNSON was recently named EuroCup Women Player of the Week after posting 22 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals in leading USO Mondeville (France) to a win over Botas Spor to advance to the Euroleague quarterfinals, where they’ll face Saarlouis Royals. In her four games with the club, Meek has reached double-figures in scoring three times and dished six assists twice. The 5-3 floor general is currently averaging 14.3 points and 4.0 rebounds on 54.1 percent shooting from the field.
