Mercury Signs Guard Lenae Williams
Phoenix Mercury General Manager Ann Meyers Drysdale today announced the signing of Lenae Williams to a training camp contract. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Williams spent the 2009-10 offseason overseas, participating in Eurocup competition for USO Mondeville in Mondeville, France. She was her teamís leading scorer, posting averages of 17.0 points on 53.2 percent shooting, 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 33.1 minutes per game.
Williams, a 6-1 guard from DePaul University, was drafted by the Detroit Shock with the 18th pick (second round) of the 2002 WNBA Draft. She appeared in 27 games for the Shock that season, averaging 2.7 points per game. In 2003 she was a part of a trade that sent her to the Phoenix Mercury along with Edwina Brown, but never appeared in a game for the Mercury.
