Welcome to Power Players.

The Phoenix Mercury are teaming up with APS and the Arizona Character Education Foundation.for a new program aimed at character-building education and sports-related opportunities for kids.

Itís been said that sports are life in microcosm, and those lessons learned in athletic competition can translate into later successes. The Phoenix Mercury players and personnel feel strongly that this is true. We know the concepts of teamwork and fair play have as much importance on the basketball court as they do in the boardroom.

That is why we are partnering with Arizonaís other major sports franchises to offer children the opportunity to receive professional athletic instruction coupled with some very important life lessons through the Power Players program.

Through these efforts, sports clinics and school assemblies will be used to help teach kids the basic principles of character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship ó all to build a brighter future for our children.

The Power Players program will also provide development or improvement of select athletic facilities statewide.
