Lynx Coach Suzie McConnell Serio
"This was a good win. We didn't skip a beat tonight. We were very good offensively, defensively, and got great bench play. We also finished the game very strong, and were focused for the full 40 minutes. I'm very happy right now... I challenged the team to come out with energy and to set the tempo from the get-go. I wanted us to take over the offensive end of the court, and take it from there. I would say the team really responded to what I was trying to get across."

"Now we have seen what this team is capable of. We're going to demand and expect this level of play all the time now. Hopefully this win will help us turn the corner for the rest of the season... Inconsistency has been this team's biggest problem. We solved that tonight. Every time they made a run, we came up with the big shot. We got the big plays when we needed them. We played with the passion and heart that this team needs to win."

"This was the most complete game of the season, no doubt about it. Turnovers were down, offensive execution was good, and rebounding was strong. This is a game to build on, and I hope we are able to do that the rest of the season."

Lynx Guard Katie Smith
"We maintained and made them earn everything they got. We made it tough for them to score. Tamika, JB and Gorp did a nice job on Yo, and everyone else did a nice job on the guards. They didn't get hot shooting the ball — even Ticha. We kind of kept her guessing what we were doing. I felt good about our defense, that we were going to get stops and make them take tough shots, and we just had to box out and rebound."

"You want to stay at .500. (A loss) would have put us 7-9, and that's a little bit of a hole. We know we're 8-8 going into Thursday, then we have a little break. I think we're confident about what we can do. We have to come out every night and get ready to play. Whatever it is and whoever it is, we've just got to bring energy and focus. That's something that tonight we did, and I hope that continues."

"That (four-point play) was nice. Obviously we wanted to keep as much distance at the end of the ballgame as possible, so that helped."

Lynx Forward Tamika Williams
"Usually we're the team that, when other teams are struggling, we're the team they pick up on. Right now, we're trying to cut that off."

"I think it (7-for-7 first half) was just getting open. Today, Sheri and Katie really drew a lot of attention. They were shooting well at the beginning. Katie would penetrate on the inside — she scored more probably on the inside than she scored on the outside. I just tried to read off of them. If you set a good screen for Katie, either she's going to be wide open or you're going to be wide open... You just read off of the players, and that's what I was doing. You just try to get down the court before Yolanda and Tangela, and score quickly."

"It took me back to college almost, where everybody's clicking, the whole bench is standing up and cheering. There were some points a couple of weeks ago that the bench was quiet. Now everybody is cheering on the bench. Everybody wants to win."

Lynx Forward Sheri Sam
"It's a big win. Sacramento is definitely one of the top teams in our conference, and they're going to be there battling for a playoff spot. You get the wins over teams like them, that definitely helps if it comes down to a tie-breaker situation."

"It was a good all-around game. We played a good game, we took care of the basketball and didn't turn it over that much. We came out ready to play tonight, and we've got to be able to play that aggressively every night."

Monarchs Coach Maura McHugh
"It just didn't seem like we had the legs tonight. I feel like we have been on the road for a year. Four games in seven days, and having to play an 11:30 game in two days... Whoever makes these schedules obviously doesn't play ball."

"We came out really flat in the second half. When we needed to turn it up, we didn't have it. We have a lot of people sick — just colds and flu bugs and stuff. But that's not an excuse. In this league, you need to be ready to go every night. You have to have it turned on every night. They were definitely the aggressor tonight."

"We had no answer for her (Katie Smith) tonight. We tried several different people on her. Whoever it was we had on her, she took it to them. It didn't matter. She was in a zone tonight."

Monarchs Guard Ticha Penicheiro
"I wouldn't say that it was a disaster. We were 0-3 on this trip, which is bad, but definitely not a disaster... They were just really hot tonight. They shot the ball really well. We tried to change defenses, but it seemed like every time they would hit a 'three'. I have to give them credit. They were the aggressor on the offensive and defensive end."

Monarchs Forward Tangela Smith
"I'm not going to make excuses. Offensively and defensively, they came out more aggressively. They wanted it more than us. I don't think we were moving our feet."

"Everything she (Katie Smith) put up seemed like it went in. She was in a zone. We know she's that kind of player — I think everybody in the league does. She leads the team. There really wasn't anything we could do. We tried some different matchups, we switched the defenses... She just had a great game."
