The 2004 WNBA draft will be held on Saturday, April 17 at 11:00 a.m. CDT, and the Lynx now hold the sixth, seventh, 20th, 33rd and 38th overall draft picks. "This is the deepest draft class in WNBA history and now with five overall picks, including two in the first round, we are very excited about what this will mean to our roster," said Lynx head coach Suzie McConnell Serio. "This is a great opportunity for us to continue to build upon last year's franchise-best record and first-ever playoff appearance."
The 2004 draft class is regarded as the best in WNBA history. This year’s draft class is headed by UConn forward Diana Taurasi and Duke guard Alana Beard. Other top players in the draft include Penn State guard Kelly Mazzante, Kansas State forward Nicole Ohlde, Stanford forward Nicole Powell, Minnesota guard Lindsay Whalen and Purdue forward Shereka Wright.

She has averaged 4.6 ppg, 3.1 rpg and 1.4 apg in 94 WNBA contests.
The Lynx acquired forward Sheri Sam in the 2003 WNBA Dispersal Draft (second overall) from the Miami Sol. In 2003, Sam played all 34-regular season games, averaging 11.0 ppg and 4.2 rpg. The 6-0 forward has a career average of 12.7 ppg in 161 WNBA games. Sam, a five-year WNBA veteran, has played with Orlando (one year), Miami (three years) and Minnesota (one year). Center Janell Burse was a second-round pick (28th overall) by Minnesota in the 2001 WNBA Draft. In 2003, she posted career highs in scoring and rebounding, averaging 7.1 ppg and 3.7 rpg. Burse has averaged 4.2 ppg and 3.7 rpg in 80 WNBA games.
