Lynx Sign Four Players

April 30, 2003 The Lynx today announced the team has re-signed forward Lynn Pride, and has signed two of the team's 2003 WNBA Draft picks, centers Jordan Adams and Carla Bennett. The Lynx also signed free agent guard Sonia Chase. Per team policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Pride, a 6-2 forward, enters her third season with the Lynx. In 2002, she appeared in 31 games (15 starts) and posted averages of 4.0 ppg, 3.3 rpg and 19.0 mpg. Pride is the Lynx' all-time leader in blocked shots with 45, and also ranks among the team's all-time leaders in minutes (1,302, fifth) and games played (63, third).

Adams, New Mexico's all-time blocked shots leader (344), was drafted by the Lynx in the second round (18th overall) of the 2003 WNBA Draft. As a senior, she earned First Team All-Mountain West Conference honors after averaging 16.0 ppg and 6.6 rpg.

Bennett, the Lynx' third-round draft pick (29th overall) from Drake, was only the third player in Missouri Valley Conference history to earn first-team all-conference honors four straight years. She completed her career with averages of 16.0 ppg and 8.1 rpg.


Chase played two seasons in the WNBA (1998, 1999) with the Charlotte Sting. The 5-9 guard appeared in 36 games for the Sting and finished with totals of 45 points, 19 rebounds and 18 assists.

Along with the above players, the following Lynx players are currently under contract with the team: guard Shaunzinski Gortman, guard Lindsey Meder, guard Tamara Moore and forward Tamika Williams.

The Lynx may carry up to 18 players on their roster for the first 10 days of training camp before reducing their roster to 15 players for the remainder of camp. The final roster cut-down date for the Lynx' regular season 11-player active roster is May 23. The team may also place two players on the Injured List.

The Lynx open training camp Thursday, beginning with the team's annual Media Day at the Lynx practice facility in Target Center and following with the team's first practice of the season.
