Moore Takes Part In Shooting Stars
Lynx forward Maya Moore competed in the NBA All-Star Saturday Night festivities at Toyota Center in Houston tonight, competing in the Shooting Stars competition. Moore teamed up with Russell Westbrook and NBA legend Robert Horry on Team Westbrook.
The event pitted four teams of three against one another, each made up of an NBA, WNBA and NBA legend player. Moore’s Team Westbrook advanced through the first round but lost to Team Bosh (Chris Bosh, Swin Cash and Dominique Wilkins) in the championship round.
The event required the teams to hit shots from six areas of the floor ranging from midrange, corner shots, 3-pointers and a half court. The fastest two teams in the preliminary round reached the finals, and the fastest team in the finals won the championship. Team Bosh won the championship in 89 seconds. Team Westbrook eclipsed that 89-second mark in the final round.
The other two teams competing in the event were Team Harden (James Harden, Sam Cassell and Tina Thompson) and Team Lopez (Brook Lopez, Muggsy Bogues and Tamika Catchings).
Moore stole the show in the first round, capping off the fastest round of any of the teams, finishing in 29.5 seconds thanks to a half-court shot that was reminiscent of her Lynx shootarounds. The Lynx spend the final minutes of each morning shootaround on game days taking turns seeing who can drain half-court shots.
