Lynx' First Overall Draft Choice to Make Debut in Team's Exhibition Game May 24

The Minnesota Lynx today announced the team's preseason schedule for the 2011 WNBA season, highlighted by a return trip to the Gangelhoff Center on the campus of Concordia University, St. Paul. The Lynx will play host to the Indiana Fever at Gangelhoff Center on Tuesday, May 24 with the tip set for 12:00 p.m. The game will represent the first chance for fans to see the No. 1 overall draft choice in a Lynx uniform. To close out its two-game exhibition schedule, Minnesota will make a return trip to Indiana on May 31 to play the Fever at Conseco Fieldhouse. Tip is set for 6:00 p.m.

"As we move closer to the 2011 WNBA Draft in April and the tip-off of our regular season on June 3, we are very excited to bring Lynx basketball back to the campus of Concordia University, St. Paul," said Lynx chief operating officer Conrad Smith. “Gangelhoff Center is a tremendous venue for our team to play in as we prepare for what we expect to be a very successful 2011 season."

In addition to the No. 1 and No. 4 overall draft choices, Lynx players projected to be in uniform for the May 24 game at Concordia University, St. Paul include 2010 WNBA All-Stars Lindsay Whalen and Rebekkah Brunson, U.S. Olympian Seimone Augustus, 2009 WNBA All-Star Charde Houston, Candice Wiggins and Monica Wright.

Other than Target Center, the Lynx have played preseason games in Mankato (1999), Rochester (2000 and 2003), St. Joseph (2009) and St. Paul (2010). Minnesota also played two preseason contests on the campus of the University of Minnesota -- at Williams Arena in 2005 and the Sports Pavilion in 2006.

The Lynx, who currently own the Nos. 1 and 4 picks in the upcoming 2011 WNBA Draft, will tip off the team's 13th season of basketball in the Twin Cities with their home opener on Sunday, June 5, when they host the Los Angeles Sparks at 2:30 p.m. at Target Center.
