Lynx Release Forward Ambrosia Anderson

Minneapolis/St. Paul - The Minnesota Lynx today announced the team has released forward Ambrosia Anderson. Anderson, drafted by the Detroit Shock with 17th overall selection of the 2006 WNBA Draft, was acquired on draft day by the Lynx along with a 2007 second-round draft pick for forward Jacqueline Batteast and a 2007 third-round draft pick.

Anderson, a 6-1 forward from Brigham Young University, averaged 17.9 points (.413 FG%), 7.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 32 games during the 2005-06 campaign. As a senior, she was named Co-Mountain West Player of the Year and First Team All-MWC after leading BYU in both scoring and rebounding. Her four-year career averages with the Cougars are 10.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game in 120 contests.

The Lynx play host to the Seattle Storm on Saturday, May 13 at 7 p.m. CDT at the University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion in the teamís only preseason home game. Minnesota opened the 2006 preseason on May 7 with a 96-90, overtime loss to the Phoenix Mercury at US Airways Center.

Minnesota will open the regular season on Tuesday, May 23 against the reigning Eastern Conference Champion Connecticut Sun at Target Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. CDT.
