The Metro Hope Recovery Ministries has been helping those who have had difficult trials in their lifetime whether that be financial problems, broken families, addictions, or perhaps all of the above.
They allow women to live with children when they are recovering from life controlling issues whether its drug issues or domestic issues. The goal is to get those in the program away from that to start a new life.
The Lynx FastBreak Foundation was proud to present a $2,000 grant to Metro Hope Recovery Ministries Healing House whose mission is to provide an educational experience that develops the whole child; intellectually, physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. The Foundation presented the check during last Thursday's game against the Washington Mystics.
On hand to receive the check from Director of Lynx Business Operations Carly Knox was Metro Hope’s Executive Director Roger Arnold.
“It means a lot, just to be recognized for what we do,” Arnold said. “With such a great organization such as the Lynx to come besides us means a lot, not for the money, but for the heart behind it.”
Arnold brought someone else with him, though. Someone who is very familiar with the program.
DeAnna Martin used the program to free herself from addiction and become a better mother and better person. It didn’t stop there, though. She believed in the program so much, she became an advocate for it.
“It’s changed my life because I am a graduate of the program and now I work there and got free of addictions,” Martin said. “It’s place for restoration and life skills for you and your family.
“It means a lot that people care that much about us, for the kids and the mothers.”
