The Lynx were shocked Sunday night at the Target Center. Tulsa's Plenette Pierson and Shavonte Zellous had a combined 28 points as the Lynx fell to the Shock 94-82. The Lynx struggled from the beginning giving up 48 easy baskets in the paint along with 30 fast break points. They had a total of 22 turnovers which resulted in 27 points for the Shock.

Charde Houston's 23 points was about the only highlight for the Lynx. Plagued by fouls and turnovers, the team never led and at one point during the third quarter Tulsa was up by 21. Despite a more aggressive second half, Tulsa's trap defense set Minnesota at an awkward pace and they couldn't adjust. The Shock answered almost every point made by the Lynx and the team couldn't find their momentum. Even though rookie Monica Wright and Lindsay Whalen both scored in double digits with 16 and 15 respectively, it wasn't enough for the win.

Coach Cheryl Reeve was disappointed and frustrated in the team's performance.

"Plain and simple, Tulsa beat us at their game," Reeve said. "Fast break basketball, we had no concept of getting back. It was not a surprise to us, the way that they played, but our level of execution was non-existent. Disappointing effort, Tulsa came in here and whooped our rear-ends."

As the Lynx backup center, Quanitra Hollingsworth experienced the lack of team defense in this game and she hopes the team can overcome the difficulties they had tonight with their week of practice ahead of them before they face their next opponent.

"We're going to get in the gym and work on defense obviously," Hollingsworth said. "But I think more so we all just need to look at ourselves and we need to come together as a team because right now we're very disconnected. That's going to take film, it's going to take discussion, but a lot of it isn't on the court stuff, it's more what's going on within the team."

The Lynx travel to Connecticut on Thursday to face the Sun tipoff set for 6:30p.m.
