Augustus Takes Home EuroCup Player of the Year Honors

You can add EuroCup Player of the Year to Lynx superstar Seimone Augustus' list of accomplishments this WNBA offseason. Just a few days after leading her club to the EuroCup championship, rewarded Augustus for a stellar season by naming her its 2009 EuroCup Player of the Year.

For the season, in 15 EuroCup games, Augustus averaged 20.0 ppg (.544 FG), 4.6 rpg and 1.8 apg. Perhaps the feisty guard's finest performance this offseason came in the EuroCup Semi-Finals, when Augustus and Galatasaray were on the brink of elimination. Needing to overcome a 14-point deficit courtesy of a 61-47 loss in game one of the two-game total-point Semi-Final series against Russian club Dynamo Kursk, Augustus and company did just that, using a 40-11 second-half outburst to claim a 62-39 win. Augustus nearly outscored the Russian club by herself that night, collecting 38 points (on 17-for-22 shooting), four rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block in 37:59. That win paved the way for Augustus and Galatasaray to capture its first EuroCup crown.

The WNBA's active leading per-game scorer, Augustus was also named Guard of the Year and Import Player of the Year by the website.
