Liberty Acquires Korie Hlede

NEW YORK, April 18, 2002 -- New York Liberty Senior Vice President and General Manager Carol Blazejowski announced that the team has acquired Korie Hlede from the Utah Starzz in exchange for its 2002 first round draft pick, 14th overall.

"This is one of the players who has impressed me since the inception of the league, and I am thrilled that we have been able to acquire her." said Carol Blazejowski, Liberty Senior Vice President and General Manager.

"She is a versatile player who makes an impact at multiple positions and is a dangerous three-point shooter."

Originally selected by the Detroit Shock in the first round (4th overall) of the 1998 Draft, Utah acquired Hlede in a multi-player deal on July 29, 1999. Over her WNBA career, the 5'9" guard/forward, has averaged 9.9 ppg, while shooting 40 percent from beyond the three-point line.
