Forward Cathrine Kraayeveld

What role did your Dad play in your basketball career?
He’s always been there to encourage me to do my best and has always been there when things aren’t going as good as I would like. He has rebounded for me more than I can count.

What is the best advice your Dad gave you about basketball? And about life?
He told me to always play hard and push myself – to know that I could always improve, and most of all, to have fun and be myself. Plus, shooters shoot. He also shared some things that he wishes he would have done different, so that has helped me in my basketball career. In life, he has taught me to stand up for what I believe in.

What’s a special connection that only you and your Dad share that no one else in your family could claim?
He understands what being a pro athlete is like and what it takes, since he played pro football. He understands the importance of truly working hard to achieve your goals.

If you could give your Dad anything in the world, what would it be?
I would buy him and my Mom a house on the beach on the Oregon coast.

What message would you like to share with your Dad on this year’s Dads & Daughter’s Day?
I love you and appreciate everything you have done for me. I couldn’t have been blessed with a better role model, friend and father. You will always be the best rebounder and my biggest fan.
