Tennis, Anyone?

The WNBA's month-long hiatus from games has given the Liberty a chance to breathe and enjoy life off the basketball court.

Before returning to action to finish off the remainder of the season, guards Erin Thorn, Megan Duffy and Leilani Mitchell visited the U.S. Open to take in a night session at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows.

One of tennis' most popular grand slams, the players saw tennis sensations Roger Federer and Venus Williams during the event's second day of play. "This is my second time here at the Open," said Thorn. "During our last Olympic break I got to see Andre Agassi play, it was so cool. So, it's super fun to come back."

"We have great seats, the USTA was awesome to invite us, especially when we don't normally get to enjoy these kind of events because we're still in season," she continued. "To see the best players in the world is pretty cool."

The Tennis Center grounds are not exactly foreign territory for the Liberty, as just last month the team made professional basketball history by playing in the first outdoor game in the sport's history at the historic Arthur Ashe Stadium for the Liberty Outdoor Classic.

"Since we played there, we now all have this special connection with Arthur Ashe Stadium, it only makes the experience of coming here even more fun."
