Grace Daley Traded to Houston

Liberty Acquires Shondra Johnson and 2003 Second-Round Draft Pick


New York, April 23, 2002 -- New York Liberty Senior Vice President and General Manager Carol Blazejowski announced today that the team has acquired point guard Shondra Johnson and a 2003 second-round draft pick from the Houston Comets in exchange for guard Grace Daley.

Johnson, 21, drafted by Houston in the third round (42nd overall) of last Friday's WNBA Draft, averaged 12.3 points per game in four seasons at Alabama. She was an All-SEC Second Team selection in each of her final three years at Alabama.

Daley, 23, was acquired by the Liberty on September 18, 2000, and appeared in 15 games during the 2001 season. She averaged 1.7 ppg, on .476 shooting (10-21) over 4.4 minutes per game. Originally selected by Minnesota in the first-round (fifth overall) of the 2000 WNBA Draft, Daley has averaged 4.4 ppg with a .399 shooting percentage throughout her career.
