Liberty Part Of Salute To Israel Parade

Shay Doron, Shameka Christon and Cathrine Kraayeveld helped celebrate Jewish American Heritage Month, a national event proclaimed by President Bush on April 30, 2007 and by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg at the Salute to Israel Parade, on Sunday, May 6, 2007.

During Jewish American Heritage Month, New Yorkers celebrate along with the rest of the country, the rich history of Jewish people in America and honor the great contributions that they have made to our nation, our city, culture, and our way of life To learn more about this annual celebration visit

As the parade made its way up Fifth Avenue, the Liberty players rode on a float co-sponsored by J & R Music & Computer World and two local Jewish families. The teammates received a warm welcome from the large crowds assembled along the parade route and the community was especially excited to welcome Shay, the first Israeli player, into the WNBA.
