New York Liberty @ Detroit Shock
Sunday, September 14, 2008 -- 4:00PM
Arena:  Madison Square Garden

Online Stream:

2008 Season Series: Detroit leads 2-1
All-Time Regular Season Series: Detroit leads 22-17

The ladies from Motown have proven to be tough competition for New York and took the summer series advantage in the last meeting on August 29 at The Palace ... The Liberty will have to turn up the defensive effort in this outing now that Plenette Pierson, the league's reigning Sixth Woman, is back in the rotation for the Shock ... The Garden faithful will never forget last year's final season series match-up against this Eastern Conference foe when Erin Thorn sunk a jump shot with 3.3 seconds remaining to even the series score at 2-2 ... Likely to face off once again in the approaching post-season, if New York wins on Sunday, it would the fifth tie in the all-time series history between these two clubs.

Cathrine Kraayeveld
Position: Forward
Ht: 6-4
Experience: 4th Season
Stat Line: 10.0 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 1.4 apg

Taj McWilliams-Franklin
Position: Center
Ht: 5-11
Experience: 11th Season
Stat Line:  13.2 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 1.8 apg

Skinny: Although New York is known for its long range shooting skills, a lot of the game action come Sunday will be taking place in the paint ... Detroit's line-up boasts a big physical game and now has veteran Taj McWilliams-Frankling leading that charge ... When they last met, the Shock center made her debut in Detroit and posted 15 points with seven boards to boot ... Kraayeveld and the rest of the Libs front court must match McWilliams-Franklin's toughness and make sure to limit her second chance looks at the basket.

Etc.: What better match-up for the last day of the regular season than facing off against the fan's favorite opponent? On Sunday, the Liberty will celebrate its loyal fan base with its annual "Fan Appreciation Day" ... The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a free t-shirt.
