Liberty To Team With The Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund For Breast Health Awareness Night, Presented By The Hallmark Channel
A portion of proceeds from Friday’s ticket sales, as well as various fundraising activities throughout the game, will benefit the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund®. Fans are encouraged to visit the 6th floor concourse level to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win limited edition autographed items, such as a basketball signed by coaching legends Kay Yow, Pat Summit and Geno Auriemma, Lisa Leslie autographed sneakers, special edition Nike pink breast health awareness sneakers signed by the 2009 Liberty team and an authentic Liberty game worn jersey. A special ball ceremony will take place before tip-off that will include Liberty season subscribers as well as supporters of the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund® that are all breast cancer survivors.
The Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund® is a 501 c(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause. The late Kay Yow, former North Carolina State University head women's basketball coach, was a past president and founding member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), and a galvanizing voice for the Association. Yow was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987, and passed away on January 24, 2009, after facing her third bout with the disease.
