As part of WNBA Breast Health Awareness Week, the New York Liberty will host “Breast Health Awareness Night,” presented by Delta Air Lines, on Tuesday, August 9 at Prudential Center. The Liberty will host the 2010 WNBA champion Seattle Storm beginning at 8:00 p.m., the game will be telecast on ESPN 2.

During a special halftime ceremony Liberty legend Rebecca Lobo will join Vickie Johnson, Teresa Weatherspoon and Sue Wicks as she is inducted into the Liberty “Ring of Honor.” Lobo was selected for the “Ring of Honor” by fans through an online vote. The “Ring of Honor” represents former players who have made the most significant contributions to the Liberty’s tradition of excellence and to the growth of the WNBA. The final “Ring of Honor” inductee for the 2011 season, as selected by a distinguished committee, is Kym Hampton, who will be honored on Tuesday, August 30 (Liberty vs. Chicago Sky at 7pm).

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF) and the University of Connecticut Foundation, Inc. to benefit the RuthAnn and Rebecca Logo Leadership Scholarship in Allied Health/Nursing will serve as the beneficiaries of “Breast Health Awareness Night.” A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales, as well as various fundraising activities throughout the game will benefit the foundations. The evening will be presented by Delta Air Lines, who will be providing pink Liberty visors to the first 3,500 fans arriving at Prudential Center. Deuce Brands is an associate partner in the evening and will provide pink Liberty watches to 1,000 lucky season subscribers.

Fans will be encouraged to visit the main concourse to participate in a silent auction for the chance to win limited edition autographed items, such as authentic game worn Liberty jerseys, a 2011 Liberty team pink and white basketball, WNBA team jerseys, plus Delta Air Line tickets, a two-night stay at Foxwoods Resort, concert tickets and more. A special ball ceremony will take place before tip-off that will include Liberty season subscribers, as well as Delta employees that are all breast cancer survivors.
