Off-Season Player Update
In Israel, forward Shameka Christon is currently playing for Raanana Hertzliya. In nine games for the team, Christon has posted 15.1 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.9 apg, and 1.7 spg in 32.9 minutes. This is her second year in the league, having played last season for the Israeli Champion Ramla.
Becky Hammon, Cathrine Kraayeveld, and Loree Moore are currently suiting up in the National Women’s Basketball League (NWBL). Hammon is in the middle of her third season as the star point guard of the defending champion Colorado Chill. Through three games, she is averaging 23.0 points (a league-best), 8.3 assists (also tops in the league), 5.7 rebounds, and 3.0 steals. Kraayeveld and Moore are both playing for the San Diego Siege, a team that is in its inaugural season. Through the first four games, Kraayeveld has posted 17.3 points, a league-best 10.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. Moore is averaging 8.5 points to go along with 4.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.
The newest Liberty faces are also busy overseas right now. Svetlaya Volnaya is in the Czech Republic, where she has appeared in 10 games for USK Praha. In 34.2 minutes per game, she has put up 16.7 ppg and 4.6 rpg. Iciss Tillis, Ashley Battle, and Liene Jansone are all currently playing in Spain. Tillis is averaging 15.7 ppg and 9.2 rpg in six games for Acis Incosa Leon. Jansone is posting 17.5 points and 10.1 rebounds in 19 games for Yaya Maria Porta XI. In 19 games for Universitario de Ferrol, Battle is averaging 11.5 points and 5.7 rebounds in 29.1 minutes of action.
Just signed by the Liberty this week, guard Emilie Gomis is in France appearing with ESB Lille Metropole. In 10 games with the team, she is averaging 14.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 33.8 minutes per game.
