NEW YORK, NY – August 11, 2013 – New York Liberty head coach and general manager Bill Laimbeer announced today that the team has claimed forward Delisha Milton-Jones on waivers. Milton-Jones will fill the roster spot of guard Chucky Jeffery, who was waived on Sunday.

Milton-Jones will not be with the Liberty tonight against the Atlanta Dream. She will join the team in time for the August 16 home game against the Washington Mystics at 7:30 p.m.

“We are a young team and Delisha gives us a great veteran presence,” said Laimbeer. “She has been very successful in this league and she will provide quality depth to our frontcourt.

Milton-Jones was placed on waivers by the San Antonio Silver Stars on August 9. She appeared in 15 games this season, averaging 9.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists.

In 15 WNBA seasons, Milton-Jones played for three teams, Los Angeles, Washington and San Antoino. She has appeared in 450 games, averaging 11.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists. A two-time WNBA All-Star, Milton-Jones won back-to-back championships with the Los Angeles Sparks in 2001 and 2002.
