Join an All-Star Reading Event

October 17, 2006 - New York, NY - There is more to basketball players than just athletic prowess. They're not just all brawn, they have the brains too. Take Becky Hammon for example. Sure she has her share of All-Star accolades, but where can you find her off the court? How about curled up with a good book. New York's three-time WNBA All-Star has always been an avid reader, and now she has teamed up with Penguin Publishing and WNBA/NBA Cares to spread her love to young fans.

Hammon will be at the NBA Store on 5th Avenue in Manhattan on Thursday, October 19, from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. to promote the importance of reading to fans. She will be joined by NBA Legend Bob Lanier and Knicks forward Malik Rose. The trio will take part in a panel discussion of "Why Read the Classics," along with presenting a check to The Boys and Girls Club of America. The event is part of the "Aim High, Live Classic" initiative, which is a promotional partnership celebrating The Penguin Classics 60th Anniversary, in conjunction with WNBA/NBA Cares.

Fans are invited to stop by the NBA Store on Thursday to hear from Becky Hammon, Bob Lanier and Malik Rose and be a part of this all-star reading event.
