From One All-Star to Another
First up, Hammon will trade in her usual teammates like Shameka Christon and Cathrine Kraayeveld for new ones like Nick Cannon and Nelly. Hammon will be part of the "H-Town" team in the McDonald's NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, which will air live on ESPN on Friday, February 17 at 7:00 p.m. Hammon's team will be coached by Desperate Housewife Eve Longoria, while ESPN's Stephen A. Smith will serve as the General Manager. They will take on Queen Latifah's "Clutch City" team for celebrity hoop bragging rights.
It's going to be a busy few days for Hammon. Following Friday's Celebrity Game, she will be on-hand for the unveiling of the NBA Cares "Learn and Play" Center on Saturday. Hammon will join various NBA and WNBA stars at McDade Elementary School in Houston to reveal the renovations at the Center, which will include extensive refurbishment and the donation of books, furniture, computers, additional reading materials and a new court. Keeping in the community spirit, Hammon will spend Sunday morning working for Habitat for Humanity. The organization will be building two houses with the NBA and its Players Association, along with NBA and WNBA ballers, during the weekend. The home being built on Sunday, with help from hammerin' Hammon, will be shipped to the Gulf Region.
After all that work and play, it will be time for the 55th NBA All-Star Game on Sunday night. Hammon will be in attendance as the NBA will be paying a special in-game tribute to the WNBA in honor of its 10th Anniversary.
It's sure to be a memorable weekend in Houston, so make sure you tune in.
