2009 In Review: By The Numbers
There were plenty to keep track of this summer. Were you paying close enough attention to the numbers of the 2009 Liberty season? If not, NYLiberty.com is here to break it all down for you. Some may be obvious to even the casual fan, while others might surprise even the most die-hard ones.

15,667 – Highest home game attendance of the summer on September 13th. New York topped Washington 86-65 in front of The Garden crowd to tie the season series at 2-2 and finish off the season on a winning note.
2,295 – Total career points for Shameka Christon after six seasons, the fourth highest scoring Liberty player in franchise history. Christon notched her 2,000th point en route to a 32-point career-high performance on July 19th against the Dream at Madison Square Garden.
743 – Total points on the season compiled by the Liberty’s bench, led by Tiffany Jackson (180, 5.3 ppg).
.417 – Three-point shooting percentage by Cathrine Kraayeveld to make for an individual career-high and season-high for the Liberty. Kraayeveld also finished the season as one of the league’s top 10 three-point threats.
.358 – New York’s three-point field goal percentage to qualify as one of the WNBA’s top three long range shooting teams.
96 – Amount of blocks swatted by New York’s starting five of Janel McCarville (44), Shameka Christon (27), Cathrine Kraayeveld (13), Essence Carson (10) and Loree Moore (2).
93 – Season-high of points scored by New York on June 21st in the team’s fourth consecutive win over Atlanta.
73.9 – Scoring average on the season for the Liberty. It ranks as the second highest scoring average in club history, behind 2008 (75.7).
66 – Total amount of steals collected by Loree Moore on the season. It is the fourth time in her career that she has led the Liberty in steals.
50 – Season-high for second half points scored by New York. The Liberty scored 50 points in the second half in back-to-back games – the last two of the season.
47 – Season-high and new all-time franchise high in rebounds, collected by the Liberty on August 1st in Atlanta.
34 – Amount of appearances and starts by Essence Carson on the season to qualify as the only Liberty player to do so in the 2009 campaign.
32 – Highest point total from a Liberty player on the season, achieved by Shameka Christon on July 19th. It stands as the second highest individual point total by a Liberty player in a single game in franchise history.
28 – Career-high points from Essence Carson in Detroit on September 10th. Carson sunk the game tying three-pointer to send the game into overtime against the defending WNBA Champions. She is just the sixth player in franchise history to post 28 points in a single game.
16 – Times the Liberty was featured on TV this summer.
15 – Career-high points for Kia Vaughn on September 10th at The Palace (and also her jersey number!).
13 – Rebounds collected by Janel McCarville on August 21st in the overtime win over the Sun at Madison Square Garden to make for a new career-high. With her 22 points, it was the center’s fourth career double-double.
12 – Points scored by Shameka Christon in the first All-Star Game of her career on July 25th at Mohegan Sun.
10 – Blocks compiled by the Liberty at Philips Arena on August 1st. Those 10 blocks are a new all-time franchise high for the team.
9 – Number of starts for Tiffany Jackson. Jackson earned the first start of her three-year career as a professional on July 30th versus the Mystics.
8.1 – Average of steals per game for New York on the season.
7 – Wins achieved by the Liberty when its bench outscored the opponents bench.
6 – Career-high rebounds for Leilani Mitchell on September 8th versus Indiana. Mitchell led the team in rebounding that evening, for the first time in her career.
4 – Number of overtime games the Liberty played in this season. It ties a franchise high for most overtime games in a season.
3 – Number of times rookie Kia Vaughn led New York in rebounds this season.
